We love getting referral work. In this case, the design and build of the Inspiring Awards website came from a long standing client. So we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to help the Jacqueline, the founder of the Inspiring Awards, with the a new responsive website design.
It all came about from a meeting Jacqueline had with her existing website developers. Her old website was hard coded and everything had to updated through the agency. Not especially happy with how the meeting went, Jacqueline contacted us after as discussion with our mutual friend.
Understanding the website design brief
As will all our web design projects we start by learning and understanding what the client needs. Once we have this information we are able to work out the website map and how this can affect the user experience of the design. Once this was in place we took a drive to south Manchester to meet with Jacqueline and present the plan.
The Inspiring Awards site is only active for 3-4 months a year. Its main function is to help people nominate women who inspire or book a table for the award ceremony. Historically, if the user wanted to book a table or attend the awards, they would have to fill out a form and submit it, then wait until they received an invoice to pay for it. The main functional change we proposed was to make the website be able to take online payments using Stripe.
With mobile web surfacing over taking laptop or desktop internet for the first time in October 2016, it was imperative the website was designed and built with this in mind.
Having launched in January, the site is already receiving nominations and online payments. A huge improvement on the previous version.
Jacqueline said, “I was looking for a new web designer and was recommended to Think Design. I found Paul and his team to be – well, creative! They were professional and delivered well beyond the brief including post design support. I know these reviews always end with ‘I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him’ but in this case it’s true as I have already passed on his details to other companies.”
