Aquius Financial Services, a small startup business, approached me for help on creating a distinct logo and stationery design to help them stand out from the already competitive Financial Services sector.
How I approached the logo and stationery design
I love helping start up businesses get themselves off to a great start with a professional looking logo design and business stationery. In the case of Aquius, his brief was simple. Come up with a logo and stationery design that helped show that he believed that financial advice had to be fluid and adapt to his customers needs. The starting point was with the company name that he had chosen – Aquius – therefore aqua or water.
The brand identity
Being such a friendly person, it made sense to choose a typeface for his logo design that reflected his personality. After all, you need to trust your financial advisor so personalities are very important. With this in mind, I took the concept of taking the outline shape of a water droplet to form part of the logo. Crafting it to look like an uppercase I, the letters were spaced out enough to allow for the curved for and cut into the second U to make it look deliberate. This also allowed the tail to point subtle towards his strapline of Clear Financial Solutions.
Once the logo design was complete I created a basic set of stationery, such as business cards, letterhead and compliments slip. And to help with his startup cost, I also produced a Word template for his letterhead so he didmc have to go to the expense of printing a load of letterheads. This template was also adapted for his various correspondance such as financial illustrations.
