Sustainability at Think

A carbon balanced design agency with a practical approach to doing better.

At Think, sustainability is not a footnote or a sales line. It is part of how we run our agency, how we make decisions, and how we shape the work we put into the world.

We have committed to working towards Net Zero by 2030 because we believe the creative and digital sector has a real responsibility to reduce its environmental impact. That responsibility applies to our own operations as well as our clients from their brand to their website and marketing activity.

If you’re new to net-zero strategy planning, the complex terminology and plethora of guidance documents and accreditation schemes can seem daunting. As a creative agency, Think fall under the Scope 3 category for net zero.

Under the globally recognised GHG Protocol, a company’s carbon emissions are divided into three scopes:

Scope 1 (Direct): Emissions from the fuel you burn directly (e.g., company vehicles, office boilers).

Scope 2 (Indirect): Emissions from the electricity or heat you purchase to power your offices.

Scope 3 (Value Chain): All other indirect emissions. For the vast majority of creative agencies, this usually makes up approximately 90% or more of your total carbon footprint.

Why this matters?

Creative work has an impact beyond what people see on screen. Every website, campaign, file, platform and process uses energy, consumes resources and contributes to the wider footprint of doing business online. That means agencies have a role to play in making better choices. You have seen those AI servers that use an obscene amount of energy and water, right?!

For us, sustainability means being honest, practical and accountable. It means reducing waste where we can, making more considered decisions in our work, and avoiding vague claims that sound good but say very little.

This digital practice usually creates better outcomes all round:

  • Faster websites
  • Clearer content
  • Stronger accessibility
  • More efficient design systems
  • Work that lasts longer instead of being constantly rebuilt.

What sustainability means at Think?

We focus on progress through practical action, not green-sounding language.

(01)

Design for longevity

We aim to create brands, websites and marketing assets with lasting value. That means clearer strategic thinking, stronger foundations and work that can evolve over time rather than being quickly replaced.

(02)

Reduce unnecessary digital waste

In digital projects, efficiency matters. Leaner websites, optimised assets, clearer user journeys and more thoughtful content structures all help reduce waste while improving usability and performance.

(03)

Make better choices early

The biggest gains often come at the start of a project. Better planning, clearer scope and more intentional decision-making help avoid rework, duplication and unnecessary production.

(04)

Value accessibility and clarity

Sustainable design is not only about emissions. It is also about creating digital experiences that are usable, inclusive and effective for the people who rely on them.

(05)

Be open about the journey

We do not position sustainability as a finished box ticking exercise. It is ongoing work, and we believe progress should be backed up with action, evidence and clear commitments.

How this shapes our work

Our sustainability approach influences how we think about branding, web design and marketing, from strategy through to delivery.

Brand strategy and identity

We build brand systems that are made to last. A clearer brand strategy and stronger identity reduce inconsistency, cut down unnecessary redesign cycles and create a more durable platform for growth.

Website design and build

We believe better websites should not rely on unnecessary bloat. More efficient page structures, optimised assets, clearer content hierarchy and stronger accessibility all support a lower-impact digital experience while improving user experience and search performance.

Content and marketing

Sustainable marketing is not about producing more for the sake of it. It is about creating clearer messages, more useful content and better-targeted activity that delivers value without excess.

Internal process and delivery

The way a project is managed matters too. Stronger planning, clearer communication, better file organisation and more efficient production workflows all help reduce wasted time, duplicated effort and unnecessary output.

Our commitments

We are classified as a carbon balanced design agency and we have committed to working towards Net Zero by 2030. This is part of a broader effort to take responsibility for our environmental impact and to challenge greenwashing within our sector.

We know commitments only matter when they are supported by evidence. That is why we make supporting sustainability information available through our published emissions reporting and profile documents.

Commitment list

  • Work towards Net Zero by 2030.
  • B Corp certification balancing profit with social and environmental purpose
  • Continue building accountability around our environmental impact through formal reporting
  • Challenge greenwashing by favouring clear, supportable claims over vague sustainability language
  • Keep improving how we work so it is more efficient and less wasteful

Proof over promises

We believe sustainability should be transparent. If an agency is going to talk about environmental responsibility, it should be prepared to show the work behind the words.

That is why we support our commitments with published reporting and formal documentation. These documents help give clients, partners and stakeholders a clearer view of where we are now and the direction we are taking.

Supply chain

Think’s environmentally preferred procurement policy sets out a simple but important principle: when the agency buys goods or services, it should prioritise options that reduce waste

and have the lowest practical environmental impact over their full life cycle. From our green-web-hosting to our carbon-balanced printers reflects our wider commitment to responsible decision-making and for environmental benefit.

What comes next?

For Think, sustainability is not a campaign theme. It is an ongoing part of how we want to operate and improve as an agency.

That means continuing to measure where we can, making better operational decisions, strengthening the way we deliver digital work, and staying honest about where progress is still needed. The aim is simple: do better work, in a better way, with a clearer sense of responsibility.

  1. Better measurement
  2. Smarter delivery
  3. Lower-waste digital thinking
  4. Clearer accountability

Looking for an agency that takes sustainability seriously?

We work with organisations that want thoughtful branding, effective websites and marketing that performs without losing sight of wider responsibility. If that sounds like the kind of partner you are looking for, we should talk.
