How did you end up in the industry?
I studied graphic and communication design at university, and after years of working client-side I made the cross into agency.
What’s your favourite thing about working here?
The people probably. Great colleagues and clients.
What’s one marketing campaign you wish you’d worked on?
As a keen fan of anything extreme any Redbull campaign or maybe R7’s return to Manchester United.
Which project are you most proud of?
The one that sticks in my mind is one I didn’t even execute. I pitched for a campaign for VPN company posing the question: “Why do people share their personal data online without a second thought, but they don’t share other intimate aspects of their daily lives? By placing a toilet inside a transparent box and driving it around busy London streets, it created an uncomfortable and memorable visual metaphor. The campaign’s tagline, “How much are you willing to share?” challenged people to reconsider their online behaviour. Unfortunately, the idea was stolen and was executed by someone else.
Best thing about living in Manchester?
Music and United have always played a major part in my life and there is no better place in the world for them side-by-side.
Surfing in Manchester is a challenge — where’s your favourite place to go?
As Ian Brown once said, Manchester’s got everything except a beach. So I go to Cornwall and Portugal most years.
